I moved to Ct from Mass in 2001, it wasn't long before I heard about Union Graveyard and the tales of the White Lady.  She is believed to roam the area looking or waiting for someone. One evening, A.J. and I happened to be driving by it, I asked him to stop. He told me the cops always drive by.  Seeing  no headlights in the distance anywhere (and it's a dark road!), he decided to pull over for a quick minute.  No sooner did I get my feet on the ground, when low and behold, come the blues!  Lucky for me I got a few moments to at least glance and get a feel for the area while the officer spent about 5 minutes asking A.J. questions and telling him the stories are all bullshit.  According to the officer he had, on several occasions, sat by the graveyard all night waiting to get a glimpse of something.  Finally we were told to be on our way.  I get back into the truck, the next thing I know, I am having a conversation with a woman ( I felt her name was Harriet or Helena) who is angry at the officer for lying about the graveyard and the fact that he had claimed to never see anything.  My bottle of soda (which was sitting between my feet on the floor) slammed against the inside passenger door, and the woman was gone.  I had told A.J. what had just occurred.  When we got home, I went upstairs and showered.  As I was drying off, much to my surprise, there was a large "H" scratched on the front of my torso!!!  I yelled for A.J. and showed him, he was as shocked as I was!  It didn't hurt and it didn't stay for too long.  While I should have been scared,  I believe I was more excited about the fact that (for me) it confirmed I had gotten the name right, or 1 of them anyways.  I went back to Union one afternoon and found a headstone of a woman named Harriet, who was smack dab in the middle of some other family, she was married  and apparently lost an infant child.  Where was her husband?..her child's grave? and why was she in the middle of a strange family?  Could she be the White Lady???

According to some, Union Graveyard is the most  haunted graveyard in the country.  One of the most famous ghosts at Union is The White Lady. There have been many sightings of her through-out the years, including that of 2 brothers who grew up in a home right next door.  It is said she can be spotted wandering from Union Graveyard to Our Lady of the Rosary, located not too far down the road in Stepney, CT.
